Verification Policy
This policy defines RavDorm’s trust labels so users can understand the checks behind a badge and continue to make their own safety decisions.

1. Listing status labels
- Draft: saved by an owner and not submitted for review.
- Awaiting review: submitted but not visible in normal public discovery.
- Changes required: returned to the owner for correction or evidence.
- Live or approved: reviewed for basic completeness and platform-policy compliance using the information available to RavDorm.
- Verified property: in the current pilot, the database flag applied when an administrator approves the listing. It does not add a separate physical or legal check.
2. Owner profile status
An owner profile may show unverified, verified or needs-attention status. A verified owner label should be displayed only after a functioning secure submission and authorised review confirms the checks described beside the label.
The current owner verification screen allows local file selection as a preparation preview and explicitly does not submit documents to RavDorm. Selecting a file cannot create verified status. Until secure submission, retention and review are implemented, owner verification must be treated as unavailable or manually controlled with documented evidence.
3. What may be checked in a future verified-owner review
- that the account holder's name corresponds with a suitable identity record;
- that an ownership, utility, management or other document reasonably connects the person to the property;
- that contact details respond and appear consistent; and
- that the listing does not contain obvious contradictions or prohibited content.
The live product must disclose which checks were actually completed, when they were completed and whether they have expired. RavDorm should request the minimum evidence required, mask identifiers and apply a short retention period.
4. What no badge guarantees
No RavDorm badge is a guarantee of:
- ownership, marketable title, encumbrance status or authority continuing after review;
- building approval, zoning, society consent, PG registration or any other licence;
- structural integrity, hygiene, fire safety, security, internet, water or amenity quality;
- the identity, conduct, solvency or future behaviour of any user;
- availability, price, refund, deposit recovery or a successful tenancy; or
- government, police, university or professional endorsement.
5. Your independent checks
Inspect the exact room and shared areas, meet the responsible person, compare identity with the written agreement, confirm every charge, test important amenities and keep receipts. If someone will not permit reasonable checks or demands an urgent advance, stop and report the listing.
Read the Safety Centre before a visit or payment.
6. Changes, expiry and removal
RavDorm may request refreshed evidence, remove a badge or restrict a listing when information changes, expires, is disputed or appears unreliable. Owners must promptly tell RavDorm if authority, licences, availability or material property conditions change.
Report an inaccurate badge or misleading claim through the Grievance and Takedown process.
