Where owner verification later accepts identity documents, a separate collection notice must explain the exact fields, purpose and retention period before upload.
3. How we receive data
We receive data directly from you, from another user who communicates or reports an interaction, automatically from your device, and from authentication or infrastructure providers used to deliver the service. If Google sign-in is enabled, we receive only the profile and account information authorised through that sign-in flow.
4. Why we use data
- create and secure accounts and route users to the correct student, owner or administrator experience;
- publish selected profile, roommate and listing information;
- provide discovery, search, enquiries, connections, messaging, reviews and notifications;
- review listings and verification signals;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorised access and manipulation;
- investigate reports, enforce policies, preserve evidence and respond to lawful requests;
- provide support, measure service reliability and fix errors; and
- send marketing only where the required separate permission exists.
We will not use personal data for a new incompatible purpose without giving an appropriate notice and obtaining consent where required.
5. What other people can see
Information intentionally published in a profile, roommate requirement, listing or review may be visible to other eligible users or the public, depending on the page and visibility controls. Phone numbers, email addresses, private messages, report evidence, account-security data and unpublished verification material are not intended to be public.
Public information can be copied by others or indexed by search services. Use profile controls carefully and avoid publishing information you do not want strangers to see.
6. When we share data
We may share only the information reasonably required with:
- another user when you publish content, send an enquiry, accept a connection or message them;
- cloud database, hosting, authentication, email, storage, monitoring and security providers acting for RavDorm under appropriate terms;
- professional advisers and insurers where necessary to protect legal interests;
- a successor in a properly governed merger, financing or transfer; and
- courts, regulators, police or other authorities where disclosure is lawfully required or necessary to prevent serious harm.
We do not sell or rent personal data to data brokers. We do not permit service providers to use it for their own advertising.
7. Service providers and international processing
RavDorm uses third-party infrastructure, currently including Supabase for database, authentication and storage and, where enabled, providers for hosting, OAuth and transactional email. Their systems may process data outside your state or outside India. Before public launch, RavDorm will document the selected regions, contractual safeguards and current subprocessor list here.
We will follow any Indian government restriction that applies to transferring particular personal data outside India.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep data only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described, the account relationship, security, disputes and applicable legal duties. Before launch, RavDorm must approve a written retention schedule covering active profiles, inactive accounts, listings, chats, attachments, analytics, verification records, reports, audit trails and backups.
A deletion request will remove or de-identify eligible information from active systems. Limited information may remain where required for fraud prevention, legal claims, statutory preservation, regulatory requests or backup rotation. We will restrict retained information and explain material exceptions in our response.
9. Your choices and rights
- ask what personal data RavDorm processes about you and request a usable copy;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete account information;
- withdraw optional consent as easily as it was given;
- request deletion of eligible personal data and closure of your account;
- opt out of optional marketing without losing core service messages;
- nominate another person where that right becomes applicable under Indian data-protection law; and
- raise a grievance and use available statutory escalation channels.
Send a request to vanshpujari99@gmail.com. We may ask for proportionate verification to protect the account. We will not ask for a password or unnecessary identity document.
10. Cookies and analytics
RavDorm uses essential authentication and security cookies. Before enabling non-essential analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking, we will provide clear information and any consent control required by applicable law. Rejecting optional tracking will not block essential account functions.
11. Security and incidents
We use access controls, row-level database security, encryption in transit, restricted administrator functions, monitoring, backups and vendor safeguards appropriate to the service. No system is perfectly secure. Report suspected compromise immediately through the grievance channel.
We maintain an incident process for containment, investigation, evidence preservation and notifications required by CERT-In, affected users, the Data Protection Board or other authorities as applicable.
12. Children
RavDorm's initial release is for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly process a child's account data or use behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact vanshpujari99@gmail.com so we can investigate and delete or restrict the data as appropriate.
13. Complaints and changes
Contact the named Grievance Officer through our Grievance and Takedown Policy. We will publish material updates with a new version and effective date, and seek fresh consent where law requires it.
